Miscanthus ‘Little Kitten’

Grasses provide interest during the winter months if you leave on the dried plumes. This particular grass is a dwarf only reaching 3’ tall in bloom.

It prefers full sun, and consistent moisture. Most Miscanthus varieties reach 6’ or more in height.  If you don’t have the space for that, this is a great alternative.

Other notable cultivars are Miscanthus ‘Purpurascence’, which gets purple-red fall color and grows around 4’ in height.  Miscanthus ‘Adagio’ is also similar to ‘Little Kitten’ in height, and would make a great substitute if it is not available.
