On many paver installations here at Twin Oaks, we install a product called polymeric sand.  Polymeric sand is a special mix of graded sand and binder formulated to solidify, therefore resisting insect penetration, weed growth and erosion.

This product is best used on tumbled pavers, which have larger joints or on flagstone applications.
