Plant of the Week – Japanese Stewartia

A beautiful 4 season tree!  The Stewartia is not a well known tree in this area, and it should be used more often.  It prefers an acidic soil, and a slightly protected area with light shade is best in our climate.

Truly a specimen plant, it requires a prominent place in the landscape.  Growing 25-40′ tall and about 15-20′ wide, it has an oval or pyramidal shape.
