Comprehensive Lawn Care Program

Fertilization Program - Our six (6) application program is designed to provide your turf with the necessary nutrient requirements to sustain a proper turf stand as outlined for our climate and soil conditions by Michigan State University. This 6 application program is designed for turf with irrigation. Twin Oaks Landscape recommends only a four (4) application program for non-irrigated turf. Applications typically begin in April and continue through October.

Insect Management – Applied typically in early to mid-summer for surface feeding insects. This treatment targets such pest as Sod Webworm, Chinch Bugs, Billbugs, Army Worms, and other turf feeding insects that may be feeding on turf at time of application. Twin Oaks Landscape, Inc. will apply one (1) insect application. Other highly variable insect problems can be controlled on request with additional applications.

Spring Grub Curative – A single treatment done in spring, once soil temperatures have reached 55-60 degrees day and night for 3 consecutive days. This treatment will eliminate adult grubs found in the turf stand before pupation into beetles. Timing is critical to ensure proper control.

Summer Grub Preventative – A single treatment typically applied in June along with Round 3 of the fertilizer treatment. This treatment is to provide the turf with protection from the fall batch of grubs.

Core Aeration– One of the most important processes used in keeping turf healthy, aeration helps to alleviate compacted soils and greatly reduces thatch build up allowing the turf to breathe. This reduces the number of attacks by insects and diseases. Aeration also helps nutrients and water to reach the root zone where it is more readily available to be taken up by the turf plant. We will aerate your lawn once (1) per year.

Additional Applications – Because pest problems are extremely weather sensitive (especially disease control), additional required applications, based on our C.A.R.E. call program, are performed at an additional approved cost.

Why weed controls are post-emergent:

Weed control cannot be applied until all weeds are up and to adult stage.

Once there is sufficient foliage and the weed control is applied, it is absorbed into the plant tissue and the weed is killed root and all.

All weed controls applications done before weeds are to adult stage will be ineffective.
